2024 Archery Division Rules

Hallettsville Knights of Columbus Big Buck Archery Contest

Contest Rules:

  • 1.  The Hallettsville Knights of Columbus Big Buck Archery Contest will have two divisions.  One for Lavaca County and a second for any of the Counties which touch Lavaca County.  Those being Fayette, Colorado, Jackson, Victoria, Dewitt, and Gonzales Counties.  Entry fee will be $10 per person.  All entries must be in on or before Midnight Friday September 27th.
  • 2.  The Archery Contest will begin on September 28th, 2024, and will end on Sunday October 27th. Prizes will be awarded at the annual stag supper to be held on Monday evening October 28, 2024.  Contest WILL NOT extend through the remainder of the week of October 27th.
  • 3.  Bucks must be checked in within 24 hours of harvest. The Deer can be whole, or field dressed or just the head with hide & antlers attached for scoring.
  • 4.  Scoring will be based on the total Gross Boone & Crockett score. All Boone & Crockett scoring rules apply.
  • 1.        Tie Breaker: Longest normal point off main beam.
  • 2.        Second Tie Breaker: Greatest inside spread.
  • 5.        Buck deer must be legally harvested and properly tagged according to the most recent Texas Hunting Guide when brought in for measurement.
  • 6.        Entries must be legal as defined by the Archery only Season regulations for Lavaca County. Deer harvested on MLD3 property will be allowed but must meet the General Regulations for that County. i.e. Harvested within the dates of the Archery only Season & meet Special Antler Restrictions for the County.
  •        7.   If a Hunter enters a legally killed buck in each  of  the two divisions, they          can  only recieve the prize for the highest placing of the two entries.
  • 8.        Bucks that were ever kept inside a pen for breeding purposes or any other reason. Bucks that are, or were ever, tagged or tattooed for breeding purposes. Bucks that have been raised in a fenced-in area and released.  Bucks considered to be Breeder Deer, WILL NOT be allowed to be entered.
  • 9.        The Hallettsville KC Big Buck Committee may administer lie detector tests. Refusal to comply or failure to appear for a scheduled lie detector test will be considered adequate reason for disqualification from the Hallettsville KC Big Buck Contest.
  • 10.        Any registered hunter trying to cheat in any Hallettsville Knights of Columbus Big Buck Contest will be automatically disqualified, forfeit their prize, and may be banned from entering the contest for life.
  • 11.     By entering the contest, you have agreed to comply with all rules of the contest and all decisions of the KC Big Buck Contest Committee. All decisions of the KC Big Buck Contest Committee will be final.
